Asworded Nuts

Our motto:

"We dress ourselves"

Longsword predates rapper-sword by a few hundred years in England and on the continent, and exists in a number of traditions throughout Europe. The swords are typically 36-40 inches in length: long, flat, tongue-depressor like blades with a wooden handle on one end. The traditions in England come mostly from fishing and mining villages in the North-East, and each have a distinctive style. They are also boring. But no more:

The Nuts have been in existance for a bunch of years (6? 8? who cares!), and have a distinctive (some would say hypocriphal) style, which, if nothing else, is not boring. We perform one dance tradition from the village of Kirkby Malzard, and do it at a pretty good clip. While the dance itself is actually a fairly accurate rendition of the one done in Kirkby, the costumes are not. We take our motto from a comment made by an elderly woman audience member who was overheard remarking to her husband: "You see what happens when you let boys dress themselves!" We can be seen at various venues in the winter season (hence the shorts), and can be contacted via Ted Hodapp by Email, or by phone.
