About the Author
I am a professor of political science at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. I received an MA degree in International relations from the University of Chicago in 1962, passed the Foreign Service examination, and worked from 1962 to 1966 as a Cultural Affairs Officer at the American embassy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After leaving the Foreign Service, I received a Ph.D. in Political Science in 1970 and have been teaching at Hamline University ever since. I live in Falcon Heights, MN with my wife Sandy and son Tom. Most of my books and articles have focused on urban politics, state politics, and U. S. politics. In recent years, however, I have have developed a growing concern over the dramatic changes in TIAA-CREF and the implications of those changes for people in higher education. The result has been a number of articles on TIAA-CREF and investment planning and finally, in 1995, the publication of GETTING MORE OUT OF TIAA-CREF.
