CSCI 3500 Survey of Computational Sciences

Course synopsis:

Tuesday, 6-9 pm, Spring 2010

This course intends to provide both theories and hands-on experiences to some of the most fundamental methods in computational sciences.
In the second half of the course, there will be guest lectures to showcase how computational methods are applied in current research fields such as biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Students can choose to pursue a term project in one of the above disciplines.
A field trip to the
Minnesota Supercomputing Institute is also included to provide a bigger stage for those who are interested in more sophisticated computing tasks.
