Hamline Young Writers Workshop: A Creative Writing Day Camp for Ages 15-18

The Hamline Young Writers Workshop is a chance for high school students who are passionate about creative writing to explore the craft, prepare for college, connect with other young writers in the Twin Cities, and work closely with Hamline Creative Writing faculty and published authors.

During this week-long day camp on the beautiful Hamline campus, students will:

    • Receive in-depth instruction/time with a published author in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or writing the college essay each day.
    • Participate in afternoon elective courses in specific creative writing topics or college essay preparedness.
    • Explore our "Literary Twin Cities" on a field-trip.
    • Strengthen their sense of literary study and career paths through a panel discussion with published authors.
    • Inspire their confidence as writers through a concluding community reading.

This year we are proud to announce that Creative Writing Programs faculty Swati Avasthi and Megan Atwood will be leading the morning session.
