  • Department Scholarships: Music

    Hamline’s Music Scholarship is designed to support students who have a demonstrated interest, aptitude, and passion for music performance. This award is renewable annually for four years and is awarded in amounts varying from $3,000 to $5,000 per year.

    Transfer student application deadline: March 15

    First-year student application deadline: January 15

    scholarship Criteria

    Admitted students applying for this scholarship must participate in a musical ensemble and enroll in one of the following: private music lessons or music classes once the scholarship is awarded. A major in music is not required to be eligible for this scholarship. A select number of students will be invited to audition on campus as a final step in the award process. Please see information on the audition process below.

    All required materials for admission to Hamline University must be submitted before applying for departmental scholarships. Scholarship applications and materials received after the deadline will not be considered. Scholarships are only awarded to students who have received an offer of admission from Hamline University.

    Audition Process

    A select group of students will be invited to audition onsite with the Music Scholarship Selection Committee as the final step of the award process. These students should be prepared to give a performance and discuss their musical achievements. Performance requirements are listed in the application form below.

    All auditions will be held in early February.  Students will be given more information on specific dates and times if invited to audition. 

    How to Maintain This Scholarship

    To maintain this scholarship annually, the scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA, participate in a music ensemble, and enroll in one of the following: private music lessons or music classes.

    Academic and Other Scholarships 

    You do not need to apply for academic and other scholarships; they are awarded based on your admission materials.

    Talent Scholarships 

    To apply for Talent Scholarships:

    1. Click on the specific scholarship link for which you would like to apply.

    2. Complete separate application form for each talent scholarship; submit form.

    3. Follow instructions on each scholarship page to submit additional required materials by scholarship deadline.
