Hamline’s Art Scholarship is designed to encourage students with a demonstrated aptitude for studio art. This award is renewable annually for four years and is awarded in the amount of $3,000 per year.
Transfer student application deadline: March 15
First-Year student application deadline: February 1
Scholarship Criteria
Admitted students applying for this scholarship will be reviewed based on their art portfolio and how they communicate their passion for art through the required materials for this scholarship. A major in Studio Art is required to maintain this scholarship.
All required materials for admission to Hamline University must be submitted before applying for departmental scholarships. Scholarship applications and materials received after the deadline will not be considered. Scholarships are only awarded to students who have received an offer of admission from Hamline University.
To maintain this scholarship annually, the scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA and declare a major in Studio Art by the end of their sophomore year at Hamline.

Art Porfolio: A digital submission of a minimum of five with a maximum of 15 works of original 2-D or 3-D art. The work submitted may be from any year in high school, and may be works completed in art classes or on your own time.
Artist's Statement: Discuss one or more of your submissions, including the artistic process, the inspiration behind the submission, what was learned from it, and how you are convinced art will be a part of your life.
