    First-Year Students: How to Apply

    Complete the checklist below to apply to Hamline University:

    Complete an application and submit it to Hamline University. Online applications are automatically sent to our admission office. Alternatively, you may download, print, and fill out a paper application and mail it in to our office.

    Have at least one letter of recommendation describing your academic and leadership record and potential from your guidance counselor and/or an academic teacher sent directly to Hamline. View the printable version of the letter of recommendation form.

    Submit an official high school transcript, including a list of senior courses. Transcripts must be sent directly from your school.

    How do high school credits transfer to Hamline?

    Send your ACT or SAT scores to Hamline. These may be listed on your official transcript sent to Hamline by your high school. To send scores directly from the testing organization, include the following codes:

    ACT: 2114
    SAT: 6265

     

    December 1: early action
    All application materials due December 1. Decisions will be mailed by December 20. Hamline's early action program is non-binding; you may apply to other colleges.

    February 1: priority deadline
    Complete your application by February 1 and receive admissions and financial information in time to attend all spring events.

    After February 1: rolling admission
    Completed applications submitted after Feb. 1 will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

    Deposits: Admitted applicants must submit a $400 deposit to reserve a place in the class. Deposits must be postmarked by May 1, which is the National Reply Date. The deposit is credited towards your fall tuition payment.
