New Dean, Dr. Julian Schuster, will arrive on July 5th

Dr. Julian Z. Schuster will be joining Hamline University on July 5, 2006 as dean of the Graduate School of Management. 

Dr. Julian Schuster, New Dean of the Hamline University Graduate School of ManagementDr. Schuster comes to us from the University of New Haven in Connecticut, where he has served ten years in progressive roles as chair of the Department of Economics, director of the Doctoral Program, director of the MBA program, associate dean of the School of Business, dean of the School of Business, and currently, dean of Extended and Executive Education.

Prior to joining University of New Haven, Dr. Schuster worked at the Institute of Economic Studies, Belgrade, Yugoslavia and taught at the University of Connecticut, University of Hartford, and Wesleyan University. He has published extensively in the area of international political economy and international financial management.  In 2004, Dr. Schuster, was recognized as a "Rising Star" by Business New Haven newspaper, representing "the best the region's business community has to offer across a range of industries."

As dean of Extended and Executive Education at the University of New Haven, Dr. Schuster was responsible for building a robust and viable extended and executive education program and for overseeing the marketing, promotion, recruitment and administration of all executive and executive-type programs and undergraduate evening studies.  Under Dr. Schuster's leadership, the university substantially increased enrollment and developed initiatives to strengthen advising and improve graduation rates.  As dean of the School of Business, Dr. Schuster exercised leadership responsibility for academic affairs, promotion and tenure, faculty recruitment, curricula, linkages to the community, and the development of special programs.

Dr. Schuster has a Ph.D. in Economics, an M.A. in International Economics, and a B.A. in Economics with a major in Finance/Accounting and a minor in Business Policy, from the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia.

The Graduate School of Management looks forward to Dr. Schuster’s arrival. A welcome reception will be scheduled in September. All Graduate School of Management faculty and students and the Hamline University community will be invited.
