Pipers drop opener to Northwestern

The Hamline University women's tennis team fell, 7-2, in their season opener against Northwestern College.

First-year Kristen Kiemele was the long Piper singles victor, winning in a third-set super-breaker after splitting the first two sets [6-0, 3-6 (10-4)].   Junior co-captains Kelly Gust (East Grand Forks, Minn.) and Liz Gunderson (New Prague, Minn.) won at first doubles, 8-4.   The Pipers play at home again on Sunday, February 10, as they host St. Scholastica at 3:00 p.m. at Walker Fieldhouse.
