St. Mary's defeats women's soccer 1-0

The Hamline women's soccer team lost to St. Mary's 1-0 Thursday afternoon in Winona, Minn.

The two teams played even for most of the game, but the Cardinals (12-3, 5-3 in the MIAC) got on the board on a Kendra Maloney goal at 42:02. Amy Cory assisted on the play.

Both teams had nine shots on goal in the contest with St. Mary's holding an 18-14 edge in total shots. First-year Kendra Watson had three shots on goal for the Pipers (7-8, 2-7).

St. Mary's goalkeeper Jennifer Johnson made nine saves in the shutout victory. Andrea Eilertson made eight saves in goal for Hamline.

The Pipers will host Gustavus Saturday afternoon at Pat Paterson Fields. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
