Women's hockey falls at St. Thomas

Jackie Carroll scored three goals and added an assist to lead St. Thomas to a 7-1 win over Hamline Friday night in Mendota Heights, Minn.

The Tommies (13-9, 11-4 in the MIAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period on Carroll's 11th goal of the season. She later assisted on a Katie Carrico goal to make it 2-0.

St. Thomas would up the lead to 5-0 before sophomore Lindsy Eilertson netted a power-play goal - her third goal of the season - at 14:44 of the second period. She was assisted on the play by first-year defenseman Amanda Finstad.

The Pipers (12-7-2, 8-6-1) outshot the Tommies 18-13 through the first two periods of play. Hamline starting goaltender Andria Pinkerton made eight saves in the first two period. Crystal Testolin added 11 saves in the final stanza. Lauren Bradel stopped 21 shots to earn the victory.

The two teams will complete their series Saturday night at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m.
