Women's hockey throttles St. Mary's![]()
![]() The Pipers (9-5-2, 5-4-1 in the MIAC) received two goals each from junior Sara Mickelson and sophomore Kate Raasch in the win. Leading 1-0 on a Melanie Leveille goal in the first period, Hamline broke the game open with three goals in the second. Raasch scored her first of the game at 2:44 off an assist from Leveille. Less than a minutes later, Mickelson netted her first of the game to make the score 3-0. Raasch added her second goal at 17:46 of the period to give Hamline a 4-0 lead at the second intermission. Hamline held a 25-9 advantage in shots on goal in the first 40 minutes of action. First-year Anna Johnson made the score 5-0 at 4:46 of the third period - her fourth goal of the season. The Cardinals (4-11-2, 4-5-1) tallied an Amy Madden goal at 9:40 before Mickelson scored her second of the game and 16th goal of the season. Mickelson needs one more goal to tie the Hamline school record for goals in a season. The record was set by Angie Erickson with 17 during the 2000-01 campaign. Hamline goaltender Andria Pinkerton stopped 17 shots for the win. Cardinal goaltender Nikki Jung made 24 saves in the loss. The Pipers will host St. Olaf Saturday night at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. |
