Women's hockey defeated by Gustavus

Gustie Mari Gunderson netted a hat trick as Gustavus beat Hamline 8-1 Friday night in St. Peter, Minn.

Gustavus (4-1, 3-0 in the MIAC), ranked fourth in the latest USCHO.com poll, scored three times in the first period while outshooting the Pipers 17-2.

Gunderson started the scoring at 4:47 of the first period. She later added goals in the second and third periods.

Hamline (1-2-2, 1-1-1) got on the board in the second period with first-year Sophie Davidson second goal of the season. She was assisted by sophomore Kate Raasch.

Melissa Mackley added two goals for the Gusties, who went 1-for-7 on the power play and scored a short-handed goal in the contest. Hamline was held to 0-of-14 with an extra skater.

Hamline netminder Andria Pinkerton stopped 42 shots in the game. Sarah Windhorst made eight saves to earn the win. Kitty Hurley added one save.

The two teams will play again on Saturday at Drake Arena. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
