Extra time ends with tie against Cardinals
![]() After a scoreless first period in which the Pipers out-shot the Cardinals 6-3, Saint Mary's got on the board first at 12:09 in the second period. Hamline only let them hold the lead for three and a half minutes, until Kate Raasch (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) scored to tie the game at 15:37. Marie Gross (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn.) was credited with the assist. The Pipers and Cardinals skated the rest of regulation without scoring. As the two teams entered overtime, Hamline had a skater advantage as Saint Mary's finished out the last 24 seconds of a penalty. The Pipers received another two-minute power play at 1:49 in the extra frame, but it and the rest of overtime expired without a goal, resulting in the tie. Piper goalie Crystal Testolin (Jr., Richardson, Texas) made several great stops while tallying 14 saves in net. Hamline peppered the Cardinals goal with 31 shots during the game. Hamline out-shot Saint Mary's 3-1 in the overtime. Hamline's record now sits at 6-7-2, 1-5-2 MIAC, while Saint Mary's is 3-8-2, 3-4-1 MIAC. The Pipers remain at home on Friday, January 25 to take on St. Olaf at 7:15 p.m. |
