Mickelson's hat trick leads Pipers past Tommies![]()
![]() ![]() St. Thomas started the game's scoring at 6:07 in the first period, but Hamline tied it up before heading into the locker room for the first intermission as Amanda Finstad (So., Waupun, Wis.) scored an unassisted goal at 14:11 in the first. Mickelson then earned the Pipers the first lead of the series as she scored the first of her goals off of assists from Alli Miller (Fy., Fairbault, Minn.) and Brianna Miller (Jr., Woodbury, Minn.) at 9:52 in the second period. St. Thomas struck back twice in the second period, scoring at 11:44 and 19:42 to go ahead 3-2 after 40 minutes. The Tommies scored again just 59 seconds into the third period to take a 4-2 lead. The Pipers came roaring back in the final five minutes of the game, as Finstad added her second goal of the night at 15:09 from Alli Miller and Cortney Hansen (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska). Mickelson's second goal of the game tied everything up at 4-4, a little over a minute later, at 16:02, from Alli Miller and Brianna Miller. The same duo teamed up to provide Mickelson with the assists on the game-winner at 18:12. The Pipers improved to 10-9-2, 5-7-2 MIAC with the win. They return home to Drake Arena to host Augsburg on Friday, February 15 at 7:15 p.m. |
