Leveille, Novakovich score a pair of goals in women's hockey win
![]() At 6:22 in the first period, Sophie Davidson (So., Saint Paul, Minn.) was called for a two-minute minor for tripping. While she was in the penalty box, Leveille got the scoring started for the Pipers at 7:12 with a short-handed goal off of a pass from Emily Dusold (Sr., Shoreview, Minn.). Leveille then added her eighth goal of the year at 9:22 in the second period, as Dusold tallied her second assist of the night. Kate Raasch (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) was also credited with an assist on the goal. The Wildcats then cut the Piper lead in half with a goal just 28 seconds later. Novakovich scored her first goal of the season at 13:09, unassisted, to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of the Pipers. Less than a minute later at 14:04, St. Catherine scored to bring the score to 3-2, and then added the game-tying goal just 12 seconds later. The game remained tied at 3-3 for 25 minutes until Novakovich scored her second unassisted goal of the night, and the game-winner, with 35 seconds remaining on the clock. St. Catherine pulled their goalie to create a 6-on-5 skating situation, but couldn't convert. The win is Hamline's first conference victory of the season, and brings the Pipers' record to 6-5-1, 1-4-1 MIAC. The Wildcats fell to 2-6-1, 1-5-0 MIAC. Hamline's women's team will be off for nearly a month over the winter break, returning to action on Friday, January 11. The Pipers will host non-conference opponent Trinity at 7:15 p.m. at Drake Arena. |
