Piper women's hockey falls to #10 Trinity

The Hamline University women's hockey team fell 7-1 to visiting Trinity College (Conn.) on Friday night.

Kate RaaschThe Pipers and the Bantams played scoreless hockey for the first twelve and a half minutes of the game, but Trinity got on the board for the first time at 12:30, and never let Hamline back into the game.

After going into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead, the Bantams resumed scoring at 2:47 in the second, and continued at 7:40 and 19:35 in the same period.

With a 4-0 lead after two periods, Trinity scored their fifth goal at the 1:00 mark of the third period, before Hamline got on the board to prevent the shut-out at 4:11. Kate Raasch (Jr., St. Paul, Minn.) scored the lone Piper goal, with assists credited to Emily Dusold (Sr., Shorview, Minn.) and Marie Gross (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn.).

The final two Trinity goals were scored at 5:05 and 18:09 in the third period to make the final score 7-1.

The Pipers fell to 6-6-1, 1-4-1 MIAC with the non-conference loss. The Bantams improved to 8-1-1, 4-1-1 NESCAC. Hamline returns to MIAC competition on Friday, January 18, when they travel to Saint Mary's for a 7:05 p.m. start.
