Women's hockey falls in series opener to Finlandia

Host Finlandia University got a one-goal lead in the first period and never trailed, as the Pipers fell 6-2 in non-conference action on Saturday night.

Sophomore Sophie Davidson (Saint Paul, Minn.) had both Piper goals, scoring her second and third goals of the season.

Davidson's first goal came four minutes into the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Marie Gross (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn.) was credited with the assist on the goal.

Down 4-1 in the third period, Megan Olson (Fy., Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Kate Raasch (Jr., Saint Paul, Minn.) combined for the two assists on Davidson's second goal to bring the score to 4-2.

With the loss, the Pipers fall to 2-1-0, 0-0-0 MIAC. They remain on the road to play the second game of the two-game series on Sunday, November 11 at 2:15 p.m.
