Women's hockey falls to Lake Forest 8-3

Lake Forest jumped out to a 4-0 lead and went on to defeat Hamline 8-3 Friday afternoon in the Cobber Thanksgiving Tournament held in Moorhead, Minn.

The Foresters (7-1) got three straight goals from Courtney DeHoey to start game.  DeHoey scored two goals in the first period to give Lake Forest a 2-0 lead at intermission.  She scored the hat trick 1:55 into the second period for a three-goal advantage.

Trailing 4-0, first-year Sarah Manning scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from Marie Gross at 7:30 elapsed in the second period.

But Dehoey would add her fourth goal of the game at 10:25 to make the score 5-1.  They would go on to lead 6-1 at the second intermission.

The Pipers (1-2-2) netted a pair of power-play goals in the third period. Emily Toenes scored her second of the year ar 11:05 while Kate Raasch scored her third of the season at 18:03.

The Pipers were outshot 43-26 in the contest.  Senior Rachael Young took the loss in goal.
