Women's hockey earns 4-4 tie versus Finlandia![]()
![]() The Pipers (1-0-1) trailed 4-2 early in the third period, but Dowzak scored on the power-play at 6:20 to cut the lead to 4-3. At 13:49, Raasch netted the game-tying goal. It was the first collegiate goals for both Dowzak and Hansen. Hamline outshot the Lions (4-1-1) 12-5 in the first period while taking a 1-0 lead. Raasch scored short-handed to give the Pipers a lead. First-year Callista Olynyk scored her second goal of the season at 4:14 of the second period to give Hamline a two-goal lead. The Lions would come back with three straight goals later in the second period to take a 3-2 lead at the second intermission. Ashley Leitch added a power-play goal at 2:45 of the third period to give Finlandia a 4-2 edge. Hamline netminder Rachael Young made 32 saves in the contest. Lion starter Corinne Czekaj made 19 saves in 53:49. Backup Katie Markovich had six saves in 11:11 of relief. The Pipers will open conference play on Friday when they host Augsburg. The puck will drop at 7:15 p.m. |
