Women's basketball wins third straight over St. Thomas![]()
![]() The Pipers (3-2, 2-1 in the MIAC) had six players score at least eight points in the contest. Tschumperlin poured in 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Sophomore Britta Schwartzhoff added 15 points while Grace Weinreich chipped in 13. Jess Heinen netted nine points. Steph Jurewicz tallied eights points, and Shelby Hyllengren scored eight points and grabbed 14 rebounds. After trailing by as many as 11 in the first half, the Pipers came back to knot the score at 37-37. Weinreich scored nine points in the first half to get the Pipers back into the game. In the second half, Hamline took the lead for good with a 13-0 run midway through the half. Schwartzhoff hit a pair of threes during the run, and Jurewicz scored four points. The Tommies did not threaten after that. Jessica Katch led all scorers with 19 points for St. Thomas. Melissa Gotchik was the only other Tommie in double figures with 11. Hamline held St. Thomas to 28 percent shooting in the game (19-67) while shooting at a 44 percent clip (22-50). The Pipers won their third straight game against the Tommies, who won 38 straight versus the Pipers before the 2005-06 season. The Pipers will host St. Mary's Wednesday night at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m.
