Women's basketball drops 68-59 decision to Tommies
![]() Sophomore guard Grace Weinreich led the Pipers (9-8, 7-7 in the MIAC) with 14 points in the contest - 11 in the second half - on 4-of-9 shooting, 3-of-6 from three-point range. Senior Ashlee Senser added 10 points off the bench for the Pipers. Hamline led 10-6 after a Senser putback in the early going before St. Thomas (8-9, 7-7) went on a 17-4 run. First-year Sheena Porter-Wrzos scored seven points during the run. The Tommies would lead 30-24 halftime lead. Porter-Wrzos and sophomore Jessica Katch each netted 17 points for the Tommies. Katch also added eight assists. Forward Melissa Gotchnik totaled 11 points. The Tommies made 44.1 percent of their shots from the floor (26-59) - 46.7 percent in the second half (14-30). Hamline shot at a 36.7 percent clip for the contest (22-60). The loss ended Hamline's three-game winning streak against the Tommies. Prior to the winning streak, St. Thomas had defeated the Pipers on 38 straight occasions. The Pipers will play at St. Mary's on Saturday. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. |
