Junior forward Shelby Hyllengren's putback as time expired lifted Hamline to a 57-56 win over St. Mary's Saturday afternoon in Winona, Minn.

After a Kelly Tanke basket with four seconds remaining gave the Cardinals (5-13, 3-12 in the MIAC) a 56-55 lead, Hyllengren hauled in a rebound off a Piper miss and laid it in as time expired. Hyllengren finished the afternoon with 10 points on 5-of-9 from the floor.

The Pipers (10-8, 8-7) led virtually the entire contest until Cardinal Jessica Weisbrod's three-point play gave St. Mary's a 52-51 edge. Hamline responded down the stretch by getting to the line on consecutive possessions where guard Britta Schwartzhoff knocked down 4-of-4 to give the Pipers a 55-54 lead with a little over a minute to play.

Sophomore guard Krystal Tschumperlin tallied 12 of her 14 points in the first half as the Pipers built a 30-25 halftime lead. Schwartzhoff added 11 points in the contest.

Hamline led by as many as nine points in the second half before the Cardinals' comeback.

Tanke netted a game-high 17 points for St. Mary's while Weisbrod chipped in 15 points. Together, they accounted for the Cardinals final 20 points.

The Pipers shot 38.8 percent for the game (19-49), including 47.8 percent in the second half (11-23). St. Mary's shot at a 36.5 percent clip for the game (19-52).

The Pipers will host Augsburg Wednesday night at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m.
