Vadnais, Monahan too much for women's basketball
![]() Vadnais went 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-4 from three-point range in the contest. Monahan, who needed 16 points to break the Gusties' all-time leading scorer, tallied 15 of her 19 points in the first half as Gustavus (20-3, 17-3) took a 48-31 halftime lead. She scored on the Gusties' second possession of the second half to break the school record of 1,399 career point set in 1987. The Pipers (12-11, 10-10) trailed by just three five minutes into the contest, but Gustavus went on a 10-0 run to open up a 22-9 cushion. Monahan scored five straight points to cap the run. Hamline was paced by sophomore Krystal Tschumperlin, who totaled 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Junior Steph Jurewicz chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for Hamline, who shot 37.5 percent from the field in the contest (21-56). First-year Rochelle Sather added nine points while Lori Koep had eight points on 3-of-3 shooting. Gustie Emily Nelson scored 11 points. Brianna Radtke dished out eight assists. Gustavus shot 51.7 percent for the game (30-58) - 65.5 in the first half (19-29). Hamline will host St. Benedict Wednesday night at Hutton Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
