Women's basketball dropped by Gustavus![]()
![]() Gustavus (10-2, 7-2 in the MIAC) forced the Pipers (7-6, 5-4) into 22 first half turnovers compared to seven for the Gusties. Those 15 extra possessions resulted in Gustavus attempting 14 more shots from the field and two more free throws in the half. The Pipers also went 1-of-12 from three-point range in the first half. In the second half, the Pipers improved to shoot 34.8 percent from the floor (8-23), but it was not enough. Gustavus post player Bri Monahan led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-13 from the field. Katie Layman came off the bench to net 10 points n 4-of-5 shooting. Hamline was paced by Shelby Hyllengren's eight points and 11 rebounds. Forward Jess Heinen chipped in seven points and 12 rebounds. Guard Ashley Vorwerk also tallied seven points on the afternoon. From the field, Gustavus shot 34.4 percent (21-61). They also hit 19-of-27 free throw attempts. Hamline was 12-of-44 from the floor overall. The Pipers were 16-of-24 from the charity stripe. The Pipers will travel to St. Benedict on Monday night. Tip of is set for 7:30 p.m. |
