St. Olaf defeats women's basketball 87-74
Rigelman went 7 of 8 from the field to lead St. Olaf (3-5, 1-3 in the MIAC). Danielle Stoermer and Christina Sampson each netted 13 points while Holly Grimsrud and Kristina Stoermer each chipped in 10 points. Hamline (4-5, 1-4) was paced by junior Kelly Lines' 25 points, including 15 in the first half. Lines was 9 of 15 from the floor with five three-pointers. Senior Laurisa Ewert had 17 points and six rebounds. Senior Carolyn Korchik had 11 points. The Pipers held a 33-31 lead at the half after shooting 38 percent (12-32) in the first 20 minutes. But the Oles stormed back, outscoring the Pipers 56-41 in the second half. The Oles were 17 of 30 from the field (57 percent) over the last 20 minutes. The Pipers held a five-point lead with as little as 12:02 left in the game. However, the Oles went on a 21-6 run over the next 6 1/2 minutes for a 66-56 advantage. Danielle Stoermer had eight points during the run. Hamline would cut the advantage to six points minutes later, but the Oles would be too tough at the line. The Oles went 20 of 23 at the charity stripe in the second half. The Pipers will next play at Augsburg on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. |
