Women's basketball falls to Carleton 72-65

Krystal Tschumperlin scored 11 points off the bench for the Pipers.
Megan Vig scored 22 points and the Knights pulled away down the stretch, defeating Hamline 72-65 Wednesday night at Hutton Arena.

Vig went 6 of 11 from the field and a perfect 10 of 10 from the free throw line to lead Carleton (10-7, 8-4 in the MIAC) to their fifth straight conference win.

The Pipers (7-9, 4-8) trailed by just one with 2:04 left in the game, but the Knights received back-to-back buckets by Hannah Oken-Berg to push the lead to 66-61 with 1:06 left.

Vig would hit six free throws down the stretch for the final tally.

Oken-Berg netted 12 points on 6 of 8 shooting.

The Pipers were paced by Korchik's 16 points. She was 6 of 14 shooting, 2 of 7 from beyond the arc.

Korchik led three players in double figures. First-year Krystal Tschumperlin added 11 points and Kelly Lines scored 10 points off the bench.

Senior Laurisa Ewert tallied seven points and six rebounds.

Hamline led 33-30 at the break after shooting 38 percent from the floor. Korchik scored nine points before the break.

Hamline outrebounded the Knights 33-25 in the game.

Hamline will next play at St. Thomas on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
