Volleyball defeats St. Mary's in MIAC opener
![]() The Cardinals held close to the Pipers in the first two games, with Hamline coming out on top 31-29 and 30-28. Hamline pulled away in the final game, 30-21, to give the Pipers their first MIAC win of the season. With the 3-0 victory, Hamline has played the minimum number of games in their last six matches. The Pipers distributed both the offensive and defensive work throughout the team in the match. Three players recorded double digits in kills (Tasha Simmons with 13, Shelby Hyllengren with 12 and Emily Amici with 10) and in digs (Simmons with 12, Sara Burns with 11 and Amici with 10). Additionally, Amanda Booth produced nine kills and Jenny Nichols had eight digs. The win brings the Pipers to 9-1 (1-0 MIAC), while the Cardinals fell to 3-7 (0-1 MIAC). Hamline will host Luther College at Hutton Arena on Friday, September 14, in the first home match of the season. |
