The Pipers volleyball team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stout 3-1 before falling to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 3-0 in the second day of the UW-Eau Claire labor day tournament.

Hamline leaves Eau Claire with a 3-1 record in their first weekend of play this season. Yesterday, they defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to start the tournament.

In the morning game, Hamline saw offensive contribution from several players, with senior Shelby Hyllengren (Cannon Falls, Minn.) once again leading the Pipers with 16 kills. Junior Emily Amici (Whitewater, Wis.) also contribute 13 kills in the contest.

The second game of the day saw Hamline matched up against tournament host, UW-Eau Claire, who swept the Pipers. Junior Amanda Booth (Champlin, Minn.) and sophomore Tasha Simmons (Eagan, Minn.) each tallied six kills in the loss.

Simmons and Hyllengren were both named to the all-tournament team for their efforts this weekend.

The Pipers head to Martin Luther College on Wednesday, September 5, in a non-conference match-up.
