Volleyball sweeps Bethany Lutheran, MSOE

The Piper volleyball ball team won three-game matches against both Bethany Lutheran and Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday at the St. Catherine Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.

In the first game of the invitational, the Pipers (5-2) defeated Bethany Lutheran 30-22, 30-21, 30-15.

Senior middle blocker Dana Luiken led the Pipers with 12 kills and seven blocks while junior Shelby Hyllengren and first-year Tasha Simmons each added 12.

Setter Angie Asmus had 38 assists in the contest. The Pipers hit .372 as a team. Hyllngren had 11 kills in just 18 attempts.

Luiken had 17 kills in the Pipers 30-28, 30-24, 30-27 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Hyllengren added 16 kills with Simmons tallying 14. Asmus dished out 48 assists while junior Sara Burns had 21 digs.

The Pipers had 59 kills in the contest compared to the Raiders' 33.
