Swimming and diving teams in seventh at UW-Stevens Point Invitational

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams are in seventh place after the first day of the UW-Stevens Point Invitational held Friday in Stevens Point, Wis.

The men finished day one with 107 points. North Dakota is leading the team competition with 523 points.

First-year Jonathan Tapia led the way for the Pipers with a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. He completed the finals race with a time of 1:58.5 to earn 17 points for the Pipers. He also finished 14th in the 100-yard backstroke.

First-year Jake Burgess was 11th in the 200-yard individual medley.

On the women's side, Hamline finished with 58 points after day one. North Dakota leads the competition with 576 points.

Sophomore Aly Janzen scored in two individual events for the Pipers. She was 11th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.34) and 16th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.48).

Lindsey Swanson was 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:39.6), and Dana Ketcher was 15th in the 100-yard freestyle (57.14).
