Men's swimming and diving beats St. Mary's, Macalester
The Pipers downed Macalester 62-44 while beating St. Mary's 87-16. Hamline won eight of 13 events between the three schools. Sophomore Julian Borgia won both diving events, taking the 1-meter dive with 232.3 points and the 3-meter dive with a score of 215.95. First-year Jake Burgess was first in both the 1000-yard freestyle (11:19.03) and 100-yard freestyle (49.33). His 49.33 in the 100-yard freestyle is about two seconds from school record pace. John Burgess won the 50-yard freestyle while first Jonathan Tapia took the 200-yard freestyle. Andrew Jagger was tops in the 100-yard butterfly. The team of Tapia, Ryan Beckman, and both Burgesses also won the 400-yard freestyle relay event. Hamline will next compete at UW-River Falls on Friday. Meet time is set for 6:00 p.m. |
