Swimming and diving teams sixth, seventh after day one of MIAC Championships

The Hamline women's swimming and diving team is sixth while the men are seventh after the first day of competition at the MIAC Championships Thursday at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.

The women's team posted 85.5 points on the first day for sixth place, paced by sophomore Dana Ketcher second place performance in the 50-yard freestyle. Ketcher reached the 'A' finals with a time of 24.84 in the preliminary round. She finished in 24.75 in the finals - tied with St. Olaf's Emily Love for second place and 16.5 points.

Sophomore diver Tami Klenke was fourth in the three-meter dive, scoring a 198.2 in the finals while sophomore Aly Janzen was 10th in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:23.33.

On the men's side, first-year Jake Burgess was 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with a finals time on 22.08.

The MIAC Championships will resume Friday at the University of Minnesota.
