Swimming and diving teams place third at St. Catherine Quad

Both the Hamline men's and women's swimming and diving teams placed third at the St. Catherine Quad held Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

For the women, sophomore Aly Janzen won two individual events and placed second in another for the Pipers. Janzen was first in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.24) and 500-yard freestyle (5:36.0) events. She was also second in the 200-yard freestyle.

Junior Natalie Netzel was second in the three-meter dive while teammate Tami Klenke was third in the one-meter dive.

Sophomore Dana Ketcher was third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.46) and junior Lindsey Swanson was third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:41.79).

On the men's side, Jonathan Tapia won two individual wins, taking the 100-yard backstroke in 56.68 and the 100-yard butterfly (52.59). He was also third in the 200-yard butterfly.

First-year Jake Burgess placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke while brother John was second in the 50-yard freestyle. John was also third in the 100-yard freestyle event.

Sophomore Julian Borgia was second in both the 1-meter dive and 3-meter dive.

The Pipers will next compete in the Macalester Invitational on Saturday.
