Softball earns split with Wooster

Hamline jumped on Wooster for five runs in the first inning while taking game one 9-0 in five innings. The Pipers dropped the second game 5-1 Wednesday morning in Ft. Myers, Fla.

The Pipers (3-1) put five runs on six hits in the first inning and cruised to the five inning win.

First-year Sophie Davidson delivered the biggest blow with a two-run single in the inning. Davidson finished the game going 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.

Hamline posted 12 hits in the game with Jourdan Ulrich, Holly Wiborg, and Sarah Dittberner adding two hits apiece. Dittberner led off the third inning with her first home run of the season.

Rachel Roberts pitched her first collegiate game, shutting out Wooster on three hits in five innings. She struck out two and walked none.

In game two, Wooster scored three unearned runs in the second and three more in the fourth to earn the split.

The Pipers were held to four hits in the contest.

Pitcher Theresa Boleen took the loss, allowing five unearned runs. She struck out six and walked six in 3 2/3 innings.

The Pipers will play UW-Superior and Southern Maine on Friday.
