The Hamline fastpitch softball team defeated Northwestern 9-3 in a weather shortened doubleheader Monday afternoon in Roseville, Minn.

The Pipers improved their record to 21-13-1 with the win. The second game of the twinbill was canceled due to lightning in the area.

She proceeded to steal second - her 29th steal of the year - and advance to third on a sacrifice. She scored on a pass ball to make the score 1-0.

Left fielder Grace Weinreich later scored on an error to make the score 2-0 before first baseman Sarah Dittberner hit a two-run double to give Hamline a 4-0 lead.

The Pipers put the game away with three more runs in the second on five walks and an error.
