Softball sweep streak continues
![]() ![]() ![]() A scoreless first inning in the opening game led to a Piper run in the top of the second. Brenna Healy (So, Mounds View, Minn.) hit a lead-off triple and then scored as Sarah Dittberner (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) reached first on an Ole error for the 1-0 lead. In the third, Hamline added two more runs to the tally. Jourdan Ulrich (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) reached on a single and advanced to third as Sophie Davidson (So., St. Paul, Minn.) was caught trying to steal home. Ulrich then upped the lead to 2-0 when she was singled home by Grace Weinreich (Jr., Wahkon, Minn.). The third Piper run was scored after Weinreich was singled over to second, stle third and was then brought home by a single from Healy. St. Olaf scored one run in the bottom of the fourth, and Hamline scored their fourth run in the sixth after Sara Mickelson (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn.) drew a leadoff walk and then scored on an RBI single from Dittberner. Healy was 2-for-2 in the opening game with a run scored and one RBI. Jessalyn Weaver (So., Eagan, Minn.) earned the win on the rubber for Hamline, throwing a compete game, giving up no earned runs, and improving her record to 6-8. Game two saw a similar pattern of scoring by the Pipers, as they started with one run in the second, and then added four to the board in the third inning. Shortly after Davidson scored following a one-out walk and an RBI single from Weinreich, Mickelson slammed a three-run homerun with Weinreich and Ulrich on base to put the Pipers up 5-0. Ulrich returned to the plate in the fourth inning to hit a one-out triple before Weinreich hit her second RBI single of the game. Weinreich was 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in the game, while Ulrich went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kelsey Tacheny (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) picked up her sixth win in as many starts, throwing a complete game to up her record to 7-2. With the wins, the Pipers improve to 16-10, 10-4 MIAC. |
