Piper Softball
After splitting the first eight games of the spring break trip to San Diego, the Hamline University softball team fell 7-1 in a rematch with Central and 8-0 in their only game against Azusa Pacific University on Wednesday.

The first game of the day was when Hamline scored their lone run of their final two games, coming in the final inning.

Down 7-0 in the top of the seventh, the Pipers erased the zero from the board. Sophie Davidson (So., St. Paul, Minn.) drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on a groundout.

Davidson then stole third, setting up the run when Grace Weinreich (Jr., Wahkon, Minn.) earned an RBI on a groundout to second base.

In the second game of the day, Azusa Pacific held just a 2-0 lead going into the fifth before they added six runs on four hits and a Hamline error to end the game.

The Pipers are now 4-6 overall, and return home to Minnesota to open MIAC play on Saturday, March 29 at Concordia-Moorhead at 1:00 p.m.
