19 lucky runs carried Hamline University's softball team to a 3-0 win over Williams College and a 16-1 victory over Wesleyan University on St. Patrick's Day in San Diego, California.

The Pipers started off the day with a complete-game shut-out from Jessalyn Weaver (So., Eagan, Minn.), as she allowed just two hits in facing only five extra batters in leading Hamline to the win over Williams.

Weaver's offensive support began in the second, as Ashley Anderberg (So., Circle Pines, Minn.) led off with a single, and advanced to second on a Brenna Healy (So., Mounds View, Minn.) single and a ground-out. Anderberg then game the Pipers a 1-0 lead when she scored on a ground-out.

Hamline scored two insurance runs for Weaver in the fifth inning, starting with Sophie Davidson's (So., St. Paul, Minn.) second lead-off homerun in as many games.

Grace Weinreich (Jr., Wahkon, Minn.) then hit a double to left center, advanced to third on a wild pitch with Erin Farley (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) at the plate, and scored on a double from Anderberg, giving the Pipers their first win of 2008.

In the second game of the day against Wesleyan University, Kelsey Tacheny (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) earned her first collegiate win from the mound as she gave up just one run on seven hits in a complete-game effort.

The Pipers began producing runs early, scoring twice in the opening inning when Davidson hit a two-run homerun with Jourdan Ulrich (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) on second base following a walk and a steal.

Hamline added three more runs in the second, carrying a 5-1 lead into their explosive 11-run fourth inning.

Davidson provided plenty of scoring in the fourth, doubling to get on base in her first at-bat, and then hitting a three-run homerun in her second turn at the plate.

The Piper offense in the fourth was produced on six hits, three drawn walks, and no Wesleyan errors.

After day three in California, the Pipers' record is 2-4.
