Young named to NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Midwest Region team
Senior Rachael Young was named to the NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Midwest Region second team, the NFCA announced on Monday.
Young, a center fielder from Buffalo, Minn., was named All-Region second team after batting .408 (53-for-130) on the season. Young recorded eleven doubles, two triples, and three home runs. She drove in 25 runs and scored 35 times during the season. She also stole 13 bases.
Young finished this season third in the MIAC in hits (53) and doubles (11).
Young leaves in the top-five on Hamline’s all-time list for games played (140), games started (134), at bats (428), hits (157), sac hits (18), doubles (28), RBIs (74), and runs scored (112).
She is a two-time All-MIAC first team selection. As a sophomore, Young was named to the All-Region third team. In 2005, after leading the team to the conference playoffs, she was named to the MIAC All-Tournament team.
The Pipers finished the season with a 19-21 record, 7-15 in the MIAC.
