Fastpitch softball finishes spring break 6-2

The Hamline fastpitch softball team split a pair of games with Worcester and Wellesley in Ft. Myers, Fla. to finish their spring break trip with a record of 6-2.

First-year pitcher Theresa Boleen allowed just four hits as the Pipers shut out Worcester 4-0. Boleen struck out 10 batters while walking none to earn her sixth win of the season.

Hamline scored all the runs they would need in the first inning as Lindsey Lingl knocked in Rachael Young with an RBI single.

First-year Jourdan Ulrich added an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The Pipers would put the game away with two runs in the bottom of the sixth on RBI base hits by Sarah Dittberner and Young.

In game two, the Pipers were outscored by Wellesley 15-10.

Hamline built a 6-0 lead, but couldn't hold on. First-year Kellie Hoen sparked a four-run second inning with a bases loaded triple. Lingl would add a two-run homer in the third for the lead.

Wellesley came back with five runs in the third, three in the fourth, and seven in the fifth to earn the win.

Ulrich had two of the Pipers' seven base hits in the game.

The Pipers return to play at UW-River Falls on Tuesday. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
