Fastpitch softball drops pair to St. Mary's
![]() The Pipers (6-4, 0-2 in the MIAC) were held to five hits in both contests with first-year Sarah Dittberner tallying the Pipers' lone run of the doubleheader with her first career home run. In game one, the Cardinals (6-8, 2-0) scored three times in the first inning and never looked back. Nikki Jung, Jenny Giannini, and Danielle Geske each recorded two hits for St. Mary's. Cardinal pitcher Jenny Schipp pitched five innings of three-hit ball to earn the win. Theresa Boleen took the loss for the Pipers. In game two, Megan Wallisch scattered five hits as the Cardinals earned the sweep. She struck out 12 and walked none. Junior catcher Katie Prasek had two hits for the Pipers. Schipp was 3-for-3 at the plate for St. Mary's. Three other player tallied two base hits. Boleen allowed five earned runs on 13 hits for the Pipers. She struck out two and walked two. The Pipers will host St. Thomas Saturday afternoon at Helen Meredith Field. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
