Softball crushes Martin Luther 8-0, 17-3 at Meredith Field
Strong first innings at the plate gave Hamline the advantage they needed over Martin Luther on Wednesday.
With the bases loaded to start the first inning, junior Katie Prasek doubled to clear the bases and put the Pipers up by three. The Pipers would score again in the second inning off a fly ball by sophomore Sara Mickelson.
Four Pipers were walked in the fourth inning, which loaded the bases and brought in another run for Hamline. Mickelson and senior Rachael Young each tallied two hits to go along with two stolen bases for Young.
In game two, the Pipers took an early 7-1 lead after the first inning. Hamline saw eight different players with two or more hits, led by first-year Kristina Hedberg who went 3-4 at the plate. The Pipers went on to score another six runs in the fourth inning to end the game in a 17-3 decision.
First-year Theresa Boleen earned two wins after starting both games for Hamline.
The Pipers will return to conference action when they host Bethel on Thursday for Faculty/Staff Day. The games are set to start at 4:00 p.m.
