Softball lands three on All-MIAC teams
Senior Rachael Young was named to the All-MIAC first team, while junior Katie Prasek and first-year Theresa Boleen were named honorable mention, announced the conference office on Monday.
Young had a dominating final season with the Pipers. She recorded eleven doubles, two triples, and three home runs while driving in 25 runs and scoring 35 times during the season. Young finished the regular season third in the MIAC in hits (53) and doubles (11).
Young leaves in the top-five on Hamline’s all-time list for games played (140), games started (134), at bats (428), hits (157), sac hits (18), doubles (28), RBIs (74), and runs scored (112).
She was named NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-Midwest Region last week after batting .408 (53-for-130) on the season. Young is a two-time All-MIAC first team selection. As a sophomore, Young was named to the All-Region third team. In 2005, after leading the team to the conference playoffs, she was named to the MIAC All-Tournament team.
Prasek led the team with a fielding percentage of .970 after starting 37 games. She finished the season with a batting percentage of .324 to go along with 34 hits, five doubles, and 17 RBIs.
Boleen jumped into the starting pitching position in her first year with the squad. After starting 38 games, she led the MIAC in innings pitched (232.1). She tied for third in the conference in wins (19) and was fourth in strikeouts (155).
Boleen finished the season second on Hamline’s all-time list for pitching wins.
The Pipers finished the season with a 19-21 record, 7-15 in the MIAC.
