Piper men's tennis finishes strong in Orlando

Hamline University's men's tennis team finished their spring break trip to Orlando, Florida with a 6-3 win over Augustana College (S.D.) on Thursday.

Each Piper in the line-up on Thursday recorded a match win in the team victory.

At doubles, Dan Vogel (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) and Kyle Helgemoe (Fy., Lakeville, Minn.) paired at second double for an 8-0 win, while Phu Cao (So., St. Paul, Minn.) and Andy Cope (Fy., Kohler, Wis.) teamed at third for an 8-4 win.

Helgemoe then went on to be the only Piper to sweep his matches, earning a 6-3, 6-0 win at fifth singles.

Kyle Warner (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) and Dan Cromwell (So., Forest Lake, Minn.) bounced back from a 0-8 loss at first doubles to win at third and fourth singles, respectively. Warner took at tight 6-4, 6-4 victory while Cromwell won, 6-3, 6-4.

The final Hamline win came from Ben Goligowski (Fy., New Brighton, Minn.) at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-4.

Hamline's record improves to 6-4, 0-1 MIAC after going 3-2 in Orlando.

The Pipers are schedule to resume MIAC competition on Saturday, March 29 at Macalester at 3:00 p.m.
