Men's soccer inches toward playoff spot

The Pipers earned an important point in the MIAC conference standings with a 0-0 double overtime tie to St. Olaf Tuesday afternoon in Northfield, Minn.

Hamline (10-3-2, 5-2-2 in the MIAC) moved into a tie for third place with the draw. A win over Macalester on Friday would clinch the Pipers' second straight postseason appearance.

The Oles (6-9-2, 3-4-2) held a slim 7-6 advantage in shots on goal in the contest. Hamline goalkeeper Andrew Clement earned the shutout, stopping all seven shots. Ole goalkeeper Eric Smith had six saves in the tie.

MIAC goal and points leader Jacob Helling had four shots for the Pipers in the contest.

Hamline will close out the MIAC regular season when they play at Macalester Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
