Men's soccer shuts out Bethel, 5-0-1 in MIAC

The Pipers erupted for three goals in the second half to defeat Bethel 3-0 Wednesday night in Arden Hills, Minn.

After a scoreless first half, Hamline (10-1-1, 5-0-1 in the MIAC) netted three goals in a span of 15:24 to open the second half.

The Pipers, who are ranked seventh in West Region, got on the board when Bethel cleared a ball into their own goal at 46:59.

Senior forward Jacob Helling netted his 10th and 11th goals of the season to seal the win. He scored at 50:20 off an assist from Steven Dupic to give Hamline a two-goal lead. Helling added an unassisted goal at 60:24 for the game's final tally.

Helling leads the MIAC with 11 goals and 25 points.

Hamline goalkeeper Andrew Clement made six saves to earn the shutout - his fifth shutout of the season. Counterpart Nick Kantor stopped four shots for the Royals (3-9-1, 1-5).

The Pipers will play at St. John's on Saturday. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
