Men's soccer plays to scoreless tie

Jacob Helling goes to the goal in Hamline's 0-0 tie with Augsburg on Saturday.
The Hamline men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season with a 0-0 double overtime tie against Augsburg Saturday afternoon at Pat Paterson Fields.

The Pipers (5-0-1, 1-0-1 in the MIAC) recorded their first shutout of the season against the Auggies (6-0-1, 1-0-1), who also remain unbeaten and unscored upon on the season.

Both teams had 11 shots in the contest with the Pipers holding a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.

The Pipers almost scored the game-winner with seconds left in the second half. With time winding down, Drew Lukas sent a corner kick that found the head of Steven Dupic. But the header was right at Auggie goalkeeper Pascual Venter, who made the save as time expired.

Hamline goalkeeper Andrew Clement made two saves to earn the shutout. Venter stopped three shots in the game.

The Pipers will host Northwestern in a non-conference matchup Monday afternoon at Pat Paterson Field. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
