Helling named MIAC Men's Soccer MVP

Senior forward Jacob Helling earned the MIAC Men's Soccer Most Valuable Player, the conference office announced on Monday. Helling was joined by senior Steve Dupic as a first teamer while junior goalkeeper Andrew Clement received honorable mention.

Helling, from Brookings, S.D., led the entire MIAC in scoring for all games with 14 goals and four assists on the season for 32 points. In conference play, Helling tied for the MIAC lead with 17 points (eight goals, one assist).

He led the Pipers to their second consecutive MIAC Playoff appearance, where they advanced to the MIAC Championship game. Hamline finished the season with a record of 12-5-2, 5-3-2 in the MIAC.

Joining Helling on the first team was senior Steve Dupic. The midfielder from Sioux Falls, S.D. registered one goal and four assists for six points. His lone goal of the season came in the Pipers' MIAC Semifinal win over St. John's.

Junior goalkeeper Andrew Clement was named All-MIAC honorable mention. The Victoria, Minn. native was 8-4-2 on the season with a 0.83 goals against average and .860 save percentage. He posted seven shutouts on the year.
