St. Thomas beats men's hockey, 5-1
![]() Hamline (7-15, 3-10) trailed 1-0 in the first period, but fought back to tie the game at the first intermission. Sophomore Steve Festler backhanded a pass through the slot to a streaking Dustin Fulton, who beat St. Thomas goaltender Treye Kettwick at the 9:44 mark of the first period. The Pipers held an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal in the first period, but the Tommies (13-9, 9-4) quickly turned that number around in the final two stanzas. Kevin Rollwagen scored the only goal of the second period on a breakaway at 2:23. The Tommies would add three more goals in the third period. Alex Arnason, Nate Ryan, and Nick Pernula all tallied goals for the Tommies. Pernula finished the evening with two goals and an assist. St. Thomas held a 24-13 advantage in shots on goal in the second and third periods. Hamline goaltender Matt Wanvig stopped 24 shots in the loss. Kettwick made 20 saves to earn the victory. The two teams will square off again Saturday night at St. Thomas. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. |
